8 Christmas Marketing Ideas for your Local Business

We’ve already hit the 20th of November, can you believe that? You’d be forgiven for not having a Christmas marketing plan set up yet because this year seems to have gone by incredibly quickly, and calendars have been incredibly full.

To help you get the most out of the upcoming silly seasons I’ve put together eight marketing ideas that your local business can use.

  1. Christmas Packaging - everyone loves a little Christmas cheer with their purchase. Create some demand for your existing product by adding limited-time packaging.

  2. Christmas Decorations - believe me when I say that putting up some Christmas decorations WILL bring people in, even if it is just to have a look at them. Every year we put Christmas decorations up at the family business, and every single year we get comments upon comments about how great they look and how much their kids loved them. Even if they come past at night to have a look at the lights, they’re still going to chat to their friends about your business.

  3. Christmas Cards - as a local business you likely have regular customers, thank them for their loyalty by sending out a physical or digital, personalised Christmas card. You can even add some less regular customers to the list and send them a card as a way of reminding them that your business is there for them.

  4. Christmas Menu - if you are a hospitality venue change things up by adding a seasonal menu. It’s exclusive, it’s new, it’s exciting and people will love a little bit of classic Christmas food and drink!

  5. Gift Cards - Gift cards are the EASIEST present to give someone, every! Kris Kringle gifts, gifts for a person you don’t really know but don’t want to exclude, gifts for that person who is impossible to buy for, get them a gift card. Make sure your local business of offering gift cards!

  6. Christmas Content - there are plenty of ways you can incorporate Christmas into your social media content strategy for your local business, and you can have plenty of fun with it.

  7. Christmas Competition - get together with some other local businesses and hold a Christmas contest! You will leverage each other’s audiences, show that you support and collaborate with your community and create excitement around the giveaway.

  8. Christmas Shopping Event - Find a spare night on the calendar and hold a Christmas shopping event. Offer special discounts for people that come in store, maybe a glass of bubbles or two and really create hype around the exclusivity of the event.

Once Black Friday and Cyber Monday are over it’s all things Christmas - so the time to get prepared is right now!
